Helping Our Community
Be Heard
Since our founding, Angels For Action has believed that supporting a community means more than responding to immediate needs. It also means listening to residents, sharing information, raising awareness, and speaking up about issues that affect the people we serve.
Our organization has participated in community advocacy in a variety of ways. Depending on the issue and opportunity, this has included attending town hall meetings, participating in rallies and community events, sharing information through our networks, organizing educational or informational activities, connecting residents with advocacy organizations, and participating in conferences and discussions at the local, state, and national level.
Our original board included community members with decades of experience advocating for residents of Plainfield and Union County. Their experience helped shape our belief that lasting community support includes both helping people navigate challenges today and working with others to address barriers that affect them more broadly.

Advocating for better English-language support, particularly for students who arrive in the United States as teenagers and may enter schools with significant language barriers.
Community Benefit Agreements
Supporting greater community involvement in development and efforts to ensure that major projects can provide meaningful benefits to the surrounding community.
Working With Others
Angels For Action does not approach advocacy as a single organization working alone. We have worked alongside community organizations, residents, educators, service providers, and other advocates when our goals and interests align.
Our role may vary depending on the issue. Sometimes we help share information or connect residents with an organization that has greater expertise. At other times, we participate directly in community meetings, events, rallies, educational activities, or broader advocacy efforts.
We have also been invited to participate in conferences and discussions outside of our immediate community, including past opportunities in Washington, D.C., around issues affecting the communities we serve.

Advocacy Is Part of
Community Support
Community Support
We recognize that a small nonprofit cannot solve every systemic issue. Our goal is to contribute where we can, help residents understand their options, and use our community relationships to amplify important concerns.
Our advocacy work continues to evolve with the needs of the community. While we have not personally passed legislation, we believe that attending, participating, educating, organizing, and working alongside others are all meaningful ways for a community organization to help make its voice heard.
Building bridges means not only connecting people to resources, but also helping communities connect with the conversations and efforts that shape their future.
