OUR MISSION
who we are
Our mission is to empower vulnerable individuals and families by providing free education, advocacy, and community support that equips them with the tools and opportunities to build stronger, more independent lives. Through compassionate outreach and trusted partnerships, we connect people with the resources they need to overcome barriers, achieve stability, and actively participate in their communities.
Angels For Action was founded by a group of longtime community volunteers who recognized that helping people is rarely as simple as pointing them to a resource. Over decades of serving our community, we saw that many individuals and families struggled to access the support available to them—not because they lacked determination, but because they faced barriers that often go unseen.
For some, those barriers include language differences, limited access to technology, difficulty navigating complex websites and applications, or simply not knowing where to begin. Others may be overwhelmed by personal hardships or unfamiliar with the services available to them. We believe these challenges should never prevent someone from receiving the help they deserve.
That is why we exist.
We provide more than information—we provide guidance. We meet people where they are, listen to their unique circumstances, and help them navigate systems that can often feel confusing or overwhelming. Whether through education, advocacy, or direct support, our goal is to make resources more accessible and ensure every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Our work is rooted in the belief that strong communities are built when people have the opportunity, knowledge, and support to improve their lives. Together with our volunteers, community partners, and supporters, we continue building bridges that connect people to hope, opportunity, and a brighter future.

At Angels For Action, our objective is to help individuals and families move from crisis toward stability, independence, and long-term opportunity. We strive to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing education, essential services, and community resources while providing the guidance and encouragement needed to navigate life's challenges.
We measure success not only by the number of people we serve, but by the lives that are transformed. Success is a family finding stable access to food and basic necessities during a difficult time. It is a survivor of crime receiving the support needed to pursue justice. It is a student continuing their education because someone believed in their potential. It is an individual gaining the confidence and knowledge to become self-sufficient and, one day, helping someone else in return.
As a volunteer-led organization serving many vulnerable populations, collecting comprehensive data can be challenging. While we track the services and donations we provide whenever possible, we recognize that our greatest impact often extends beyond numbers. Many of those we have supported have gone on to volunteer, mentor others, and strengthen their own communities years later.

WHERE WE WORK

Due to mainly convience of loction for residents that don't have reliable transportation, we mainly have impacted residents in Plainfield. Regardless, we are always open and welcoming to other residents in the surroudning areas to join all our public events and services.

Charity Aboard Outreach
Beyond our local community, we support international outreach initiatives during times of need (natural disaster.) and/or through annual toys charitable projects with local partners onsite. This work is especially meaningful to our director/co-founder, Carmen Salavarrieta, who grew up in a remote village in Colombia where a visiting charity brought toys to local children. That simple act of kindness inspired a lifelong commitment to serving others—a mission that continues today by bringing hope and support to communities facing hardship around the world.
